Moby's James Bond Theme Remix
Friday, December 29, 2006
Yes, another old video, but I've been getting into James Bond so I thought I'd show this amazing remix of the James Bond theme, by Moby.

I love the fact that all Moby does in the video is run. And with different women who run retardedly because of their high heels. It's basically what an entire Bond film is. Running. It's hilarious how Moby makes it seem as though (at parts) it's Pierce Brosnan shooting at him. Or so it seems, sort of. I think it's clever that Moby incorporated the real James Bond film into his video.

That's all for today.

SNL Natalie Portman raps.
Thursday, December 28, 2006
This is an old video, but I found it on Youtube recently and thought about posting it here and "reviewing" it.

I think she's freaking adorable. I love the song and the video, I think Natalie Portman did a great job at rapping. I love the bottle smashing over her head and the fact that she's so angry in the video. Kudos to SNL and Natalie Portman.

More later.

Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby: 10/10

-The story of a man who could only count to #1
Starring:
-Will Ferrell

-Sacha Baron Cohen
-Amy Adams
-Leslie Bibb

Ricky Bobby (Will Ferrell) is the number one NASCAR driver. He is at the top along with his best friend and teammate, Cal Naughton Jr. (John C. Reilly) But then French Formula 1 driver Jean Girard (Sacha Baron Cohen) comes along and beats Ricky's record. Now Ricky Bobby as to win back his number 1 spot and beat Girard.

I loved this movie. I am a big fan of Will Ferrell and this movie is very similar to his other movie, Anchorman, but in a good way. It's hilarious. The script is fantastic, the acting is great. Leslie Bibb did an amazing job! It was a great movie. 10/10 everyone see it.

-Our cars speak for themselves.
-Life is a journey. Enjoy the trip.
-Gear up...
-I got gas, dude.
-It's drive time!

-The all-new 2006.
Starring:
-Owen Wilson
-Paul Newman
-Bonnie Hunt
-Larry the Cable Guy

A rookie race car named Lightining McQueen (Owen Wilson) gets waylaid in a small town called Radiator Springs. He ruined the road on the town, when he was "crashing" into it. So, the cars living in the town decide to make him stay until he fixes the road. However he has to get to California for a racing competition for the Piston cup.

When I rented Cars, I also rented Over the Hedge. I thought Cars was going to be unfullfilling, and Over the Hedge would be hilarious, but it turned out it was the other way around. Cars was very enjoyable and very funny. I didn't find any of the characters annoying, except maybe Chick Hicks (Michael Keaton). But I think that was on purpose. Anyways. It was a really good film. The storyline was good, the characters were great, it was hilarious. I was not bored druing it. Not at all. Kudos to Cars.

Directed by:
-Tim Johnson
-Karey Kirkpatrick
Taglines:
-Shell Shocked.
-Master Blaster.
-Ring Leader.
-Nuts!
-Get over it.
-Taking back the neighborhood... One snack at a time.
Starring:
-Bruce Willis
-Garry Shandling
-Steve Carell
-Wanda Skyes
-William Shatner
-Nick Nolte

RJ (Bruce Willis), a sly racoon, tries to steal food from a Vincent (Nick Nolte), a bear. The food gets destroyed and now RJ fools a family of different creatures into helping him return the food to the bear.

I was excited to see this one, but it really dissappointed me. It wasn't as funny as I thought it would be. Steve Carell's character was probably one of the best. There were moments in the film that were really good and funny, but overall, it wasn't what I thought it was going to be. It wasn't that great to watch. I think Hammy (Steve Carell) really made up for the lack of humour in this film.

The Saddest Music in the World: 7/10

The Saddest Music in the World(on DVD, a comedy drama)
Directed by: Guy Maddin
Taglines: -"If you're sad, and like beer, I'm your lady."
Starring:
-Mark McKinney
-Isabella Rossellini
-Maria de Medeiros
-David Fox
-Ross McMillan

During the Great Depression, in Winnipeg, Canada, a beer baroness decides to hold a competition for the saddest music in the world. The prize, for first place, is $25, 000. People from all over the world come to this one place, to compete for the money.

I liked this film. It surprised me. A lot. I actually didn't know what it was about when I started watching, but the way it was filmed and the entire story was very...original and unique. It was filmed with old cameras and equipment, which gave the entire movie a very old feeling to it, but in a very artsy kind of way. The technique and visual styles weren't anything that I've seen before. It was very interesting. Besides the very dark theme to this film, it as spontaneous random moments of humour. The concept of the whole movie was very intelligent and interesting. While watching part of the making of this film, I learned that they had people from different cultures come and audition for a part in the film and they asked them to play what they thought was the saddest song. And they used what the original musicians picked, in the movie. I thought that was very cool and true to the different cultures.

This is out on DVD. I give it a 7/10.

The Barry Gibb Show.
Saturday, December 23, 2006
Recently, Justin Timberlake hosted Saturday Night Live. They brought back Jimmy Fallon for one particular sketch. The Barry Gibb show. The very first time Justin Timberlake hosted, he played Barry Gibb's brother Robin, on the the Barry Gibb show.

Later on Cameron Diaz hosted the show. At the time she was dated Justin Timberlake, so they decided to run the sketch: The Barry Gibb show.

And finally, the most recent:

Personally, I think the last one is the best. Though I do love in the first one, how Justin Timberlake starts laughing and has to hide his face. I always love it when comedians on tv laugh at their own/each other's jokes. I hope you enjoyed these. For more SNL goodness, (mainly videos) click here.

Don't forget...
Don't forget all the short, but hilarious appearances Ben Stiller makes in other movies. Such as 'Happy Gilmore' where he is an orderly nurse who is cruel. It's funny, trust me. Although Happy Gilmore is a good movie, that one appearance by Ben Stiller made it all the better.

Other movies are Anchorman. He plays Arturo Mendes. I suggest everyone see Anchorman, if you are a fan of Will Ferrell. You will appreciate it. Here is a taste, and the part with Ben Stiller. Also one of the funniest scenes of the movie.

And don't forget about Night at the Museum, which came out yesterday. Here's a short trailer.

And that's the end of Ben Stiller week.

Peter LaFleur (Vince Vaughn) is a procrastinating lazy man, who owns a local gym, which is not very succesfull. To get this money he enters in the dodgeball tournament, which White Goodman also enters.
Dodgeball was pretty funny. I love the Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn combo. They make a good team and Ben Stiller was hilarious in this film. I enjoyed it a lot and say watch it!

The Royal Tenenbaums!

Yes, I know it is Ben Stiller week and the week is almost over with no Ben Stiller movies except for one. I've been sick latley so I have been trying to stay away from the computer. (It hurts my eyes). I'll make up for it. Starting with:

I don't remember much of this movie, but I remember likeing it. A lot. It was very interesting and it was funny in the mellow dramatic way it was.

Ben Stiller week! Zoolander!!
Monday, December 18, 2006
Because I haven't seen any new movies in a long time, I've decided to do, a Ben Stiller week. These are all the Ben Stiller movies I have seen, and generally love. Today, the starting day is Zoolander. The first movie I ever saw, with Ben Stiller in it.

Zoolander(2001)
Directed by: Ben Stiller!
Taglines: -3% Body Fat. 1% Brain Activity.
Starring:
-Ben Stiller
-Owen Wilson
-Christine Taylor
-Will Ferrell
-Milla Jovovich
-Jerry Stiller

Derek Zoolander (Ben Stiller) is a dumb, brainless male model. Derek is brainwashed by fashion designer Mugatu (Will Ferrell). Mugatu wants Derek to kill the Maylasian Prime Minister during the Derelicte fashion show. The reason Mugatu wants the Maylasian Prime Minister dead, is because the Prime Minister is going to lower/prevent child labour. Of course Mugatu uses child labour.

The only review I can give is, well, there are MANY cameo appearances.
Also, this film is so incredibly stupid. It's magnificent. I love it.

If you've seen it, below are some bloopers.

The Eraser: Remixes!
Friday, December 15, 2006
I was looking at Radiohead's website, particulary their DEAD AIR SPACE. It's their, kind of, messaging board. You know, where they post stuff. Anyways, on the 11 of December, Thom Yorke posted some remixes people have done. The remixes are of songs of his solo album, 'The Eraser.' (If you're a fan of Radiohead, I suggest you get it, it's fantastic.) So, here are some of the remixes from The Eraser site.
Remixes Here
Click on the buildings to get the actual remixes. Click the head to get to the main page of The Eraser site.
Posted on the 20 of November was an entry about global warming. Of course written by Thom. He encourages people to start helping. I'm hoping to do the same.
Help Stop Global Warming

If you care about the animals and their habitats, you can do other things from home, besides the above things mentioned on stop global warming site. At the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) you can Adopt an Animal and it's Habitat
That's WWF Canada, if you're not Canadian, here is their global network. Pick your country and make a change. :D WWF Global Network

Since we're trying to help make a difference. Instead of using google as a search engine (even though it's a great one). Try using Good Search. It's a search engine, and whenever you search something, they will send money to a charity of your choice. It's a good way to give, without doing much at all (if you happen to be lazy like me :S). True, it's not as good as google, but at least give it a try. Or type in something you know you'll find. (Like IMDb).

Today is the release date for Pursuit of Happyness. A film starring Will Smith and his son Jaden Smith. The film is based on the book of the same name, which is a memoir by Chris Gardner (Who Will Smith plays in the film). I saw Will Smith, his son and Chris Gardner on the Oprah show. I only saw part of it, but it was very inspiring. Chris Gardner is truly an amazing and inspiring man. If you missed it, try to catch the rerun. Here is the memoir by Chris Gardner on amazon.com. Just in case you're intrested. Pursuit of Happyness Memoir.

Elf: 7/10
Thursday, December 14, 2006

Elf (on DVD, it's an old one, I know, but it's Christmas!)
Directed by: Jon Favreau
Tagline: -This holiday, discover your inner elf.
Starring:
-Will Ferrell
-James Caan
-Zooey Deschanel
-Mary Steenburgen
-Edward Asner
-Bob Newhart
Buddy (Will Ferrell), was a baby in a New York orphanage when he crawled into Santa's bag. Santa (Edward Asner) only realized when he returned to the North Pole. It was decided that he would be raised as an elf, by the elves. Once he is older, they tell him the truth, and now he is in search of his real father.
I know this is an old one from 2003, but It's Christmas. I don't really like Christmas movies, they seem either, retarded, or just cheesy and boring. This Christmas movie, I liked. (It's also going to be playing on CBC, so that's exciting for me!) I enjoyed this film, a lot. Some parts were kind of...stupid, but I love Will Ferrell and his humour. I pretty much love any movie, if Will Ferrell is in it. He somehow makes it all worthwhile. I heard someone say, somewhere that "those who like Will Ferrell, like him a lot." And it's true! Anyways, so Will Ferrell is hilarious, the movie is great and I found the other actors were great as well. It was a thouroughly well done movie. I can't wait to watch it again.
This was much shorter than my usual posts, but I'll post more later. Maybe.

Taglines:

-Based on a true story - sort of...
-Heads You Live... Tails You Die.
-My Name is Domino Harvey. I am a Bounty Hunter.
Starring:
-Keira Knightly
-Mickey Rourke
-Edgar Ramirez

This film is an action thriller. It is loosely based on the life of Domino Harvey who became a bounty hunter. She was the daughter of actor Laurence Harvey. Keira Knightly plays Domino Harvey.

The movie was all right. I thought Keira Knightly did a pretty good job, but it wasn't fantastic. I didn't really like the ending, I mean, it was good, but not what I expected. I don't think they properly portrayed the real life Domino Harvey. Keira Knightly as Domino Harvey. (Above)

About the Real Domino Harvey. (1969 - 2005)

Although there are model like pictures of the real Domino Harvey, it is not confirmed if she was indeed a model at the Ford Agency or not. She was expelled from 4 schools for getting into fights. At first she was (apparently) a Ford model, but then she moved on to various jobs in various places before becoming a bounty hunter. She discovered it by seeing an advertisement in the paper for a bounty hunter seminar held by veteran Ed Martinez. (Played by Mickey Rourke in the film). Ed Martinez became her teacher and good friend. She was constantly in and out of rehab and eventually on May 4, 2005 she was arrested at her home on the belief that she was going to distripute over a pound of methamphetamines. During her wait for trial, under house arrest, she died. She was found in her bathtub. She died of an accidental overdose of the painkiller fentanyl. She was 35. She appears at the end of the film. Above is Domino Harvey in 1994.

Snow Cake

Snow Cake (I believe this is in theaters and if not, should be coming to DVD shortly).
Directed by: Marc Evans
Taglines: -Sometimes stopping is the most important part of the journey...
Starring:
-Alan Rickman
-Sigourney Weaver
-Carrie-Anne Moss

It is a drama film about Alex Hughes (Alan Rickman), who is traumatized by a fatal car accident, in which the daughter of Linda Freeman (Sigourney Weaver) is killed. Alex develops a strange friendship with Linda, who is a high functioning autistic woman.

I would show the preview, but I felt it revealed too much. I haven't seen this, but I saw a random preview for it on tv, and am looking forward to seeing it. It appears to be one of those films that isn't well known or talked about, so I'm posting about it here. I'm going to watch it and then come back with my review.

Pirates by LisaNova
As promised, here is a second video which I really like. Brought to us by LisaNova

I think the guy played Johnny Depp extremley well. He looks strikingly similar to Johnny Depp and he even sounds like him. (a bit) Now, Lisa Nova did Keira Knightly's voice really well, and she kind of looked like Keira at times, but the mouth thing was a bit too much and weird. I know Keira Kinghtly does actually do that mouth thing, but on Keira, it looks natural (in some ways). Lisa Nova's face seems to be a bit more chubbier than Keira, so it's more awkward than similar. The laugh is kind of not that funny either. Though oddly enough, it's kind of the same. Hehe. Good job Lisa Nova and friend. It's well done.

The song is sung by Thom Yorke (Radiohead). The driver in the car is apparently Thom Yorke, but I think it looks (and sounds) like Ewan McGregor. But I suppose I could be wrong. It might be Thom...

I think the video is absolutley beautiful and extremley meaningful. It was directed by Jonathan Glazer.

Bon Cop, Bad Cop. (out on DVD December 19, I believe...)
Directed by: Eric Canuel
Taglines: -Shoot first, translate later.
Starring:
Colm Feore
Patrick Huard

A body is found on top of the Ontario-Quebec border. Police officers from both provinces must join together in search of the murderer, who turns out to be a serial killer. David Bouchard (Patrick Huard) is from Quebec and Matin Ward (Colm Feore) is from Ontario. During the film they have to settle their differences in cultures and learn to work together. The movie is a bilingual film. The english version has the french subtitled and the french has the english subtitled. Either way, it's a really enjoyable film.

In fact, I believe this one of the best movies I've seen all year. It was definetley the funniest. The movie takes place in Canada. Both in Quebec and Ontario. I don't know if I thought it was so funny and hilarious, because I'm Canadian and can relate or if it was just that funny. Either way, see it. It's one of the few movies where it's not just funny at the beginning, or the middle or the end. It's funny the entire time. The entire movie is hilarious.

Basically, David Bouchard is explaining to Martin Ward how you can swear in french. If you're english and you don't understand it, don't worry when you watch the movie, the french parts will be subtitled. I promise you, you'll love it. It's a fantastic film. I laughed the entire time.

The Chumscrubber: 10/10

The Chumscrubber (out on DVD)
Directed by: Arie Posin
Taglines: -Meet Generation Rx
Starring:
Jamie Bell
Camilla Belle
Justin Chatwin
Glenn Close
Rory Culkin
Thomas Curtis
Tim DeKay
William Fichtner
Ralph Fiennes
Caroline Goodall
John Heard
Carrie Anne Moss
Rita Wilson
Josh Janowicz

The film is a dark satire comedy. It takes place in an upper class suburbia setting. Dean (Jamie Bell) found his best friend, Troy (Josh Janowicz) dead, but doesn't tell anyone because he knows no one will care. At school, Troy was a drug dealer, and the kids want their drugs. Many Billy (Justin Chatwin) who Troy owed a lot of pills to. Billy decides to get the drugs from Dean instead, knowing Dean and Troy were best friends and lived next door. Dean refuses to get the drugs, so Billy and his friends kidnap Charlie (Rory Culkin), Dean's younger brother. However, it's the wrong Charlie.

The summary above, may make the movie sound bad, but the movie is actually really amazing. If you're a teen, or you just feel as though your parents or any adults won't listen to you, then you'll love this movie. For the adults/parents I'm not sure if they'll get it or not (I haven't met anyone who has) but I think it's a good movie to see. The movie basically shows how parents are completley oblivious to anything and everything their children and everyone else's children are doing. Not only was it deeply meaningful, but it was satiracle and hilarious. One of the funniest movies I have ever seen. I think. Anyways. It's amazing, the acting is great and I love the tagline. It's so true.

More Anton Corbijn,
Wednesday, December 06, 2006
As promised, here are some more pictures done by Anton Corbijn.
Left is U2 (Bono) and Greenday (Billie Joe Armstrong).
Below is REM.

I'm not sure which I like more. I do like the screaming at each other bit, but I also like the kind of, no hearing, no seeing, no speaking sort of theme with REM. Below is Johnny Depp. I didn't even recognize him. I think it's kind of serene...in a weird way. I like the angle.

Above (and to the right), is DM. I absolutley love that picture of them. I love how David Gahan ( the frontman) is grainy and blurry where as Martin Gore (right) and Andy Fletcher (left) are more in focus. I also really love the setting and the background.

Here is Kurt Cobain (R.I.P). I like how he looks manly, yet some how very feminine. How I miss Kurt Cobain. Anton Corbijn also directed their video for 'Heart-Shaped Box'.

This is Sophie Zelmani. She is a Swedish singer and songwriter. I like the setting of this photo and the where the sun is and all that. It's nicely done.

Well that's it for today.

Anton Corbijn.
Tuesday, December 05, 2006

Anton Corbijn is one of my favorite artists. He is a photographer, he directs music videos and he does films. I found him throught Depeche Mode. He has done many of their music videos and concert films. He also has several books out. Several of his books are out of print which makes me sad. I would have liked to have gotten the Depeche Mode one. Anyways, so I'll show a couple of his photographs, but he has done a lot. A lot of magasin covers and works for bands, artist, all that stuff. His movie, "Control: The Ian Curtis Film". It's about the life of Ian Curtis, the frontman of Joy Divison. It's based on the book 'Touching From a Distance' (about her late husband) by Deborah Curtis. It is also based the bio 'Torn Apart' by Lindsay Reade and Mick Middles

Anton does a lot of work with celebrities, a lot of photographing them. His photos seem to be more, I dunno, classic. Something like that. Here is one of Cameron Diaz and Ewan McGregor. I mostly like how Ewan's face is on her lap (assuming) and it's parcially hidden. At first glance, it took me a while to figure out where Ewan was in this photo. He is mostly known in the music industry for his work with U2 and Depeche Mode.

Palm Pictures released a DVD collection of his music video output. It was part of a Director's Label series.

For some reason, my blog won't upload anymore pictures (?). I'll try and get them up tomorrow, but here is his site. http://www.corbijn.co.uk/

School. Fight Club: 10/10
Well, since I'm bored and currently in computer class, why not review the class? Or shcool in general. Now beside me is the retard that got me into blogs. Really, it was my choice, but I was just so bored. What do we do in computer class? Nothing. Oh and they blocked off ALL the good sites. www.coffeebreakarcade.com, www.albinoblacksheep.com, www.ebaumsworld.com, www.greatestjournal.com, hotmail and of course the lovable, myspace. (You can acess youtube, but none of the videos work). Yes, those are all the sites I go to, to waste time, but of course we can't get access to any of them.
So I got a blog.
Today is unusually quiet. Normally we hear Howard Dean's speech on youtube, in which he yells "hyea" (or however that sound is spelled). And we'll hear all the boys shouting at eatchother and the girls laughing. Kids hearling insults at the teacher as he tries to tell us, we have to do our work. But today, it's quiet. No one is doing there work though, that's the confusing bit. Are we missing someone? Or is everyone just incredibly tired from the weekend?
I doubt that.
Kevin, the fellow blogger is bitching about something.
He's trying to fix his blog, but it just won't work the way he wants it to.
Inwardly, I laugh at him.

A nameless office employee (Edward Norton) of a major car company is suffering from insomnia. He goes to his doctor for a prescription to allow him to sleep. His doctor refuses and tells him if he wants to see real suffering than to go to a support group for testicular cancer. He does exactly that, and through this emotional relief he is able to sleep. He becomes an addict and begins to go to a wide variety of support groups. Then Marla Singer, (Helena Bonham Carter) another "faker" begins to attend the same support groups as "the narrator". This makes his insomnia return, because he cannot cry in the presence of another faker. He meets a soap salesman named Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt) and together they start something called Fight Club.

I love this movie. It is completley mind blowing and the actors are absolutley amazing. It is very deep and has an interesting theory and view of life. It doesn't necessarily change your life, but it certainly makes you think about it. It's a very philosophical film. It mostly talks about consumerism and society as a whole. I can't really explain too much about it. Really you just have to see it. I promise you, it's mind blowing. Some people have told me it confuses them and they'll never understand it. Yes it is confusing, but I think if you really pay attention to it, it's pretty easy to understand. Although, you notice something new everytime you watch it. So I say, watch it more than once.

The film is based on the novel by Chuck Palahniuk. I read the novel and it's just as amazing as the movie. The movie was amazingly similar to the novel. There were a couple of changes, but otherwise, there were a lot of scenes and dialogues taken directly from the novel. I think this is one film that has justly depicted the novel.

Of course I have to say the acting is amazing. Every single one of them were simply incredibly believable and delivered a great performance.

10/10. By far one of my favorite movies. It's also one of the things that brought me and my incredibly sexy best friend Lisa, together. I loooove you Lise.

Favorite Tagline:
-Mischief. Mayhem. Soap.
-Works great even on blood stains.
Though, really, I like them all.

SNL, youtube,
Sunday, December 03, 2006
Last night's SNL's host was Matthew Fox. (Jack from Lost). At first it wasn't all that funny, but they really picked it up quickly. By far my favorite was the Mayan Chocolate sketch. I'm not sure if it's on their website, but here's a video vault of some of their greatest sketches. http://www.nbc.com/Saturday_Night_Live/videos/

Well I've been really bored this weekend. So here's a video that always makes the boredome go away

These guys are hilarious and clever. They have a website, visit it. It's great. Ya. Maybe I'll post something later.
(Is it just me or is hollywood fashion getting uglier?)

Blood Diamond trailer.
Saturday, December 02, 2006
Today, I am bored again and I've been watching 'Whose Line is it Anyway.' It's a good show, so I thought I'd share it. Here's the first part.

If you want more. Here's the rest: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhDHqTRsaTI and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4Ohm3IoOsM

The movie, Blood Diamond is comming out December 8. It stars:
Leonardo DiCaprio
Jennifer Connelly
Djimon Hounsou
Michael Sheen
Arnold Vosloo

The story is set in 1990's Sierra Leone and is about Danny Archer (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Solomon Vandy (Djimon Hounsou). Solomon has found and hidden a diamond which can save his family and give Archer a second chance.
Basically it shows the evils of the diamond trade...sort of. I think people should be more aware of the diamond trade. I belive Leonardo DiCaprio became more aware of it because of this film. So...that's something.

Eh, that's all for today.

Resident Evil 5: Update.
Friday, December 01, 2006
I'm a fan of the Resident Evil series, so I'm really excited for this one.
Ok so, it is coming out for playstation 3 and xbox 360 (I am confused as to why it won't be on the Wii. The release date is somewhere in 2007, maybe May? Resident Evil 5 is set right after 4 (so a sequel type thing) and it is said to be a major turning point in the plotline. (The plotline of the entire series). I am excited to see what will happen to Ada. If you've played 'Seperate Ways' in the fourth one. You'll know what I mean. Everyone is saying the main character (the one you can see in the trailer) is Chris Redfield, (it does kinda look like him) but it's not entirely sure, so we'll just have to wait. For everyone who hates the crimson heads (the fast zombies) well, this one, they run as fast as humans. They are supposedly a cross between ganados and zombies. The location is said to be in a fictional country in South America. It's hot down there, right? Ya, that's going to be part of the game. You're going to have to find a spot to cool down when it gets too hot. If you get too hot, you see mirages and hallucinations which obviously leads to bad accuracy when shooting. Also...I think you get a machete. :D
